Butter Chicken is a smooth buttery & creamy tomato based gravy that is very popular among Maldivians. This dish is originated from India.
Ingredients:
For the chicken marinade
- 200 gms boneless skinless chicken breast (or) thighs
- 100 ml plain curd
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 1 1/2 tsp garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp red chilly powder
- 1 tsp methi leaves
- 20 ml mustard oil
- Adjust to food color (orange red)
- 1/2 tsp black salt
- 1 tsp lime
- Salt to taste
For the sauce
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 large onion chopped
- 1 1/2 tsp garlic paste
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 150 g tomatoes
- 1 tsp red chilly powder
- 1/2 cup cooking cream
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp Kasthuri methi
- 1/2 cup fresh milk
- 10 g cashew nuts paste
- Salt to taste
- Adjust food color (orange red)
